The Dow Jones Index dropped 315 points or 0.63 percent on Tuesday to close at 49372 points.

Losses were led by Cisco Systems (-3.04%), Boeing (-2.62%) and 3M (-2.08%).

Offsetting the fall, top gainers were Verizon (2.18%), Amgen (1.97%) and Merck (1.52%).
