United Kingdom Inflation Rate Unchanged For Fourth Consecutive Month

The Consumer Prices Index annual inflation grew by 2.7 percent in January of 2013, unchanged for the fourth month in a row. This is the longest period for which the CPI growth has remained unchanged.

According to a release from the Office for National Statistics, January annual inflation was posted unchanged, holding at its highest level since May. The largest upward pressures came from alcohol and air fares (+8.5 percent). Miscellaneous goods & services and clothing provided the largest downward pressures.

The Retail Prices Index annual inflation grew by 3.3 percent in January 2013, up from 3.1 percent in December of 2012.
