United States Core Personal Consumption Expenditure Price Index

The so-called core PCE price index in the United States, which excludes food and energy, edged up 0.1 percent month-over-month in May of 2017, the same as in the previous month and matching market expectations. Year-on-year, the core PCE price index increased 1.4 percent after rising 1.5 percent in April. The core PCE is the Fed's preferred inflation measure. The central bank has a 2 percent target. Core Pce Price Index in the United States averaged 60.74 Index Points from 1959 until 2017, reaching an all time high of 112.73 Index Points in May of 2017 and a record low of 17.60 Index Points in January of 1959.
