In April, core inflation was down 0.6 percent on year, it increased 0.4 percent on month.
In April, compared to the previous year, the biggest decreases were reported for prices of Furniture and household utensils (-2.9%), Culture and recreation (-2.3%) and Food (-1.8%). Fuel, light and water charges increased the most (2.4%), followed by Education (0.6%).
In April, compared to the previous month, prices of Food and Medical care decreased slightly. The biggest gains were registered for Fuel (0.6%), Clothes and footwear (2.4%) and Culture and Recreation (0.7%).
The consumer price index for Ku-area of Tokyo in May 2013(preliminary) was 98.9(2010=100), up 0.1% from the previous month, and down 0.2% over the year.
