China's September Inflation at 4.6%

China's statistical bureau says the country's inflation rate fell to 4.6 percent in September, its lowest level in 15 months.

Analysts say the continued decline in the inflation rate, which compared with a 4.9 percent increase in August, will give the government more leeway in spending and boosting lending to help rev up the slowing economy.

China has made fighting politically sensitive inflation a priority in recent years. But declining food prices have helped bring the consumer price index down from a peak of 8.7 percent in February.
