United States Personal Consumption Expenditure Price Index  1959-2017

The price index for consumer spending in the United States fell 0.2 percent month-over-month in March 2017, following a 0.1 percent rise in the previous period. Prices for services decreased by 0.1 percent, after rising 0.2 percent in February and cost of goods declined 0.6 percent after 0.1 percent drop in the previous month. Compared to the same month a year earlier, the PCE price index went up 1.8 percent. Excluding food and energy, the so-called core PCE price index fell by 0.1 percent month-over-month and rose by 1.6 percent from the previous year. Pce Price Index in the United States averaged 60.02 Index Points from 1959 until 2017, reaching an all time high of 112.26 Index Points in February of 2017 and a record low of 17.12 Index Points in January of 1959.
