In October of 2013, Germany’s adjusted unemployment rate remained unchanged at 5.2 percent, but fell from 5.4 percent a year earlier.
In October 2013, the number of unemployed was 2.16 million, which is a decline of 41,000 people over a year earlier, or 1.8 percent. The number of unemployed went down by 40,000 people or 1.8 percent over September. When adjusted for seasonal and irregular effects, the number of unemployed amounted to 2.22 million. The adjusted unemployment rate was 5.2 percent as in September 2013.
A total of 42.2 million persons resident in Germany were in employment, 252,000 people or 0.6 percent more than in October 2012. Since March 2013, the year-on-year rate of increase has stayed constant at 0.6 percent. After seasonal adjustment, the number of persons in employment rose by 20,000 in October 2013 compared with the previous month.
