The annual inflation rate in the German state of Hesse eased to 2.6% in May 2026 from 2.8% in April, marking the lowest reading in three periods. On a monthly basis, the CPI declined 0.2%, following a 0.4% increase in March. The moderation in prices came as lower energy tax rates on fuels, introduced at the start of May under a relief measure enacted by the federal legislature, helped curb above-average increases in fuel and heating oil prices. source: Statistik Hessen
