German Adjusted Jobless Rate Stable at 5.4% in June


In June, Germany's unemployment rate remained close to its lowest level since the country reunited more than two decades ago. The seasonal adjusted number of unemployed amounted to 2.30 million persons .Youth unemployment decreased 0.1 percentage points to 7.5 percent.

In June, the non-adjusted number of unemployed was 2.32 million, an increase of 98,000 or 4.5 percent on June of 2012. Compared with May of 2013, the number of unemployed rose by 69,000 people or 3.1 percent. The non-adjusted jobless rate edged up to 5.5 percent in June from 5.3 percent in May.

In the same month, a total of 41.8 million persons resident in Germany were in employment. This is an increase of 232,000 persons in employment or 0.6 percent when compared to the same month a year earlier. Compared with May, the number of persons in employment was slightly up by 10,000.
