Compared with the previous month, the number of unemployed persons decreased by 0.6 percent to 1.80 million from 1.81 million in May, while employment was virtually unchanged at 40.87 million people from 40.86 million.
Compared with June of 2015, unemployment dropped 7.7 percent from 1.95 million people while employment rose 2.3 percent from 39.94 million people.
Youth unemployment rate was recorded at 7.2 percent, unchanged from the previous month and up from 7.1 percent a year earlier.
Separate data from the Labour Office showed the number of unemployed persons fell by 7 thousand in July of 2016. The unemployment rate was steady 6.1 percent.
