Compared with the previous month, the number of unemployed persons decreased by 1.1 percent to 1.80 million from 1.82 million in February, while employment rose by 0.1 percent to 40.65 million people from 40.59 million.
Compared with March of 2015, unemployment dropped 9.5 percent from 1.99 million people while employment rose 1.8 percent from 39.95 million people.
Youth unemployment rate was recorded at 6.9 percent, down from 7 percent in the previous month and from 7.2 percent a year earlier.
Separate data from the Labour Office showed the number of unemployed persons was unchanged at 2.7 million in April of 2016. The unemployment rate remained unchange at record low of 6.2 percent.
