Germany Inflation Rate Down to 1.5 Percent in February


According to preliminary results published by the Federal Statistical Office, consumer prices in Germany are expected to rise by 1.5 percent in February of 2013 compared with February of 2012.

Based on the results available so far, the Federal Statistical Office also reports that the consumer prices are expected to increase by 0.6 percent on January 2013. The price rises for energy and food (over +3 percent on February of 2012) were markedly higher than the general inflation rate.

The harmonised consumer price index for Germany, which is calculated for European purposes, is expected to increase by 1.8 percent in February of 2013 on February of 2012. It is expected to rise by 0.8 percent from a month earlier.
