Looking at the main components of euro area inflation, energy is expected to have the highest annual rate in January (2.6 percent), followed by food, alcohol & tobacco (1.8 percent), services (1.6 percent) and non-energy industrial goods (0.3 percent).
The annual core inflation, which excludes volatile prices of energy, food, alcohol & tobacco and at which the ECB looks in its policy decisions, is likely to edge higher to 1.1 percent in January from 1 percent in December and slightly above market consensus of 1 percent.
