German Unemployment Rate Remains The Lowest Since Reunification


German seasonally adjusted harmonised jobless rate remained steady at 5 percent in November of 2014 while employment rose by 0.1 percent to 39.8 million.

Compared to the previous month, the number of unemployed fell slightly to 2.11 million persons from 2.12 million and employment rose by 39,000 to 39.9 million. 

Youth unemployment rate decreased to 7.4 percent from a revised 7.5 percent in the previous month. 

Compared with the same month last year, employment grew 1.0 percent while unemployment dropped 0.9 percent in November of 2014. A year earlier, the jobless rate was recorded at 5.1 percent. 

Figures for October were revised upwards to show unemployment rate at 5 percent from a provisional 4.9 percent.
