Brazylian Economy Grows 1.3% in Q1


Brazil's economy expanded 1.3 percent in the first quarter from the previous three-month period, the national statistics agency said.

Compared to Q4 2010, GDP at market prices grew 1.3% in the first quarter of 2011 (seasonally adjusted series). The main highlight was agriculture (with a 3.3% growth in value added volume), followed by industry (2.2%) and services (1.1%).

GDP grew 4.2% over Q1 2010. The main highlights among the economic activities were services (4.0%), followed by industry (3.5%) and agriculture (3.1%).
