The central bank targets inflation at 4.5 percent plus or minus two percentage points. A year earlier, inflation was recorded at 5.59 percent.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 1.24 percent, the fastest pace in 12 years. Housing cost recorded the highest increase (2.42 percent) due to an 8.27 percent surge in electricity prices. Transport cost went up 1.83 percent, as prices for bus and taxi increased and food cost rose 1.48 percent.
Downward pressures came from clothing (-0.69 percent) and housing products (-0.28 percent).
