US stocks were mostly lower on Wednesday amid losses from heavyweight chip producers ahead of earnings results from Nvidia.

The S&P 500 and the Dow inched below the flatline, while the Nasdaq 100 fell 0.5%.

Nvidia shares wavered ahead of their earnings release after the bell, set to signal the level of capital expenditures by AI hyperscalers, which have supported the US stock market in recent years.

Microsoft, Tesla, Alphabet, and Amazon traded lower.

Meanwhile, Intuit sank 10% as its outlook failed to impress the higher ranges of expectations.

In turn, Meta jumped 4% as it agreed to a $16.7 billion settlement against US states regarding social media strategy for teens.

Outside tech, traditional economic sectors were pressured by lingering concerns of adverse macroeconomic conditions.

Robust consumer expenditure and income, in addition to higher than expected PCE price indices, maintained the case for restrictive policy by the Federal Reserve.

US Stocks Close Mixed as Yields Rebound
