The US Social Security rate for companies is the portion of an employee’s earnings that an employer must contribute to fund the OASDI and HI programs. Like the employee rate, it is mandated by law and credited to the Social Security and Medicare trust funds. In certain years, the employer’s effective contribution may differ from the trust fund rate, with any difference made up through general revenue.
