Year-ahead inflation expectations in the US, measured by the University of Michigan Surveys of Consumers, rose for the second month to 4.7% in October 2026, the highest level since May, up from 4.7% in September, according to a preliminary estimate.

Meanwhile, the five-year inflation outlook also increased for the second month to 3.5% in October, its highest since May, up from 3.4% in September.
