US stock indices closed higher on Tuesday with support from the heavyweight tech sector as the surge in bond yields paused and softened pressure on the sector's credit outlook.

The S&P 500 added 0.6% and the Nasdaq 100 rose 0.5% each to their record highs, while the Dow gained 253 points.

Both AI infrastructure and hyperscaler stocks were mostly higher as fresh deals in the sector continued to spur speculative demand for the technology.

OpenAI was in talks for a $30 billion round of financing with UAE funds and Alphabet gained 0.3% ahead of an agreement to acquire nuclear energy capacity from Constellation Energy, which rose 12.2%.

Meanwhile, AMD jumped 2.8% as CEO Lisa Su signaled strong chip demand in the coming years.

Microsoft rose 0.8% and Amazon gained 1.9%, while Nvidia added 0.1%.
