US equities traded mixed on Monday as investors remained cautious ahead of the Federal Reserve’s policy meeting later this week.
The S&P 500 gained 0.2%, and the Nasdaq-100 advanced 0.3%, while the Dow Jones declined by more than 100 points.
Elevated Treasury yields remained a key concern, with the 10-year yield reaching its highest level in more than two decades and raising questions about the impact of higher borrowing costs on equity valuations.
Individual technology stocks also drove notable moves.
Intel fell almost 2% following reports that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. may be discussing a potential collaboration with Elon Musk’s Terafab initiative, which Intel joined in April.
In contrast, Cerebras Systems surged after OpenAI CEO Sam Altman described the company as a close partner and highlighted the two firms’ work together on high-speed computing.
