US futures moved higher on Friday, with S&P 500 futures up 0.4%, Nasdaq 100 futures gaining 0.6%, and Dow Jones futures rising nearly 180 points.

The gains came as oil prices fell, easing inflation concerns and pushing Treasury yields lower after their sharp rise earlier in the week.

Investors are also awaiting the September jobs report for further clues on the health of the labor market and the outlook for Fed policy.

Markets continue to price in another rate hike by the Fed this year, although the odds of a move at the October meeting stand at around 24%, with expectations shifting toward December.

Shares of major companies were broadly higher in premarket trading, with Nvidia up 1.2%, Apple 0.1%, Alphabet 0.5%, Microsoft 1.0%, Amazon 0.6%, Broadcom 1.2%, Meta 0.4%, and Tesla 0.8%.

Despite Friday’s gains, all three major US stock indexes are on track to end the week lower.

The S&P 500 dropped 1.2%, its worst week since August.

The Dow fell 1.8% and the Nasdaq traded 0.8% lower.

US Futures Steady Ahead of Jobs Report
US stock futures were little changed on Friday as investors cautiously awaited the September jobs report, which could provide fresh clues on the health of the labor market and shape expectations for Federal Reserve monetary policy. However, markets will require a higher threshold for a strong jobs report to warrant bets on a Fed rate hike this month, with traders currently assigning roughly a 75% probability to rates remaining unchanged. Investors also tracked geopolitical developments as the US considered deploying another aircraft carrier and additional troops to the Middle East, potentially escalating the conflict with Iran and causing further disruptions to regional energy supplies. In corporate news, Anthropic is reportedly exploring plans to go public as early as mid-November. During regular trading on Thursday, the S&P 500 rose 0.19%, while the Dow and Nasdaq Composite each edged up 0.04% as Treasury yields retreated from multi-decade highs.
