US stock futures were slightly higher on Tuesday, with S&P futures up 0.1%, Dow futures gaining 80 points and Nasdaq 100 futures rising 0.4%, following losses in the previous session.

AI remained the main focus, with traders assessing the outcome of a lunch meeting between US President Trump and industry leaders on AI safety risks.

OpenAI’s DevDay, taking place today, will also be closely watched.

Meanwhile, reports on Tuesday said Anthropic warned in its IPO prospectus that its AI models could pose a “catastrophic or existential risk to humanity”.

The lack of progress in the Middle East, volatile oil prices and Treasury yields holding at multi-year highs also remained on investors’ radar.

Megacap stocks were mixed in premarket trading.

Nvidia (0.7%), Amazon (0.3%), Broadcom (0.9%), Meta (0.9%), Tesla (0.4%) and Micron (1.6%) traded higher, while Apple (-0.5%) and Microsoft (-0.1%) were lower.

Alphabet was little changed.

US Stocks Waver
US stocks lacked direction on Tuesday, with the S&P 500 trading around the flatline, the Dow Jones falling 120 points and the Nasdaq rising 0.2%, as AI remained a key focus for investors. The outcome of a lunch meeting between US President Trump and industry leaders on AI safety risks will be closely watched, alongside OpenAI’s DevDay taking place today, for any signals on the industry’s outlook. Meanwhile, optimism over an Anthropic IPO also supported sentiment. The IPO could value the company at more than $2 trillion despite a net loss of $42 billion in 2025. On the other hand, the lack of progress in the Middle East, volatile oil prices and Treasury yields holding at multi-year highs pressured stocks down. Industrials and tech shares were the top performers, while energy underperformed. Nvidia (0.7%), Amazon (0.4%), Broadcom (2.4%), Meta (1.5%) and Micron (1%) booked gains while Apple (-1.3%), Microsoft (-0.2%) and Tesla (-1.5%) were lower and Alphabet shares traded little changed.
