US stock futures were lower on Monday, with S&P 500 futures down 0.5%, Nasdaq 100 futures falling 1% and Dow Jones futures losing around 190 points.

Traders returned from the weekend to another rise in oil prices as hopes for a deal between the US and Iran faded.

Key economic data due this week, including the PCE and the jobs report, will provide further insight into the health of the US economy.

In premarket trading, Nvidia fell around 0.4% despite unveiling a new software platform to allow AI developers to set safeguards for agents.

Apple (-0.2%), Alphabet (-1%), Microsoft (-0.3%), Amazon (-0.8%), Broadcom (-1.2%), Meta (-3%) and Tesla (-0.8%) also traded lower.

Micron Technology fell around 2.2% and AMD (-2.7%) and Intel (-3.3%) were also under pressure.

US Futures Fall to Start the Week
US stock futures declined on Monday as investors looked for fresh catalysts in the week ahead while keeping a close eye on developments in the Middle East. Oil prices advanced after President Donald Trump rejected Iran’s latest proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, while Tehran said it would not ease its conditions for reopening the vital waterway. Equity markets remained under pressure from elevated oil prices, which heightened inflation concerns and strengthened expectations for a more hawkish interest-rate outlook. Treasury yields also climbed to multi-decade highs amid expectations of further Federal Reserve tightening and growing concerns over government debt. Investors now turn their attention to the Fed’s preferred inflation gauge and key US jobs data due this week. Elsewhere, Trump was scheduled to have dinner with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei on Sunday, with discussions expected to include the tech executive’s recent calls to slow the development of new AI models.
