US Futures Hold Pullback

2026-09-02 11:59 By Andre Joaquim 1 min. read

US equity futures were muted on Wednesday, holding declines from the week as tight financial conditions threatened the outlook of economic activity.

Contracts for the S&P 500 and Dow were flat, while those for the Nasdaq 100 fell 0.7%.

US and Iran continued to exchange strikes against each other and reports of hits on tankers near the Strait of Hormuz maintained risks on global energy supply.

The inflationary impact of the war and a consequent rate hike by the Federal Reserve were magnified by soaring public deficits and higher corporate debt issuance, lifting sovereign yields across the curve.

The tech sector remained under pressure with Marvell, Palantir, and Seagate, dropping more than 2% premarket.

Also, Palo Alto Networks fell 2.5% despite beating earnings estimates.

On the other hand, Dell soared nearly 10% after beating its earnings and raising its full year revenue guidance.

Meanwhile, Nvidia was flat on advanced talks to acquire Hugging Face for $14 billion.

US Futures Hold Steady After Downbeat Session
US stock futures stabilized on Wednesday after the major averages posted another losing session, pressured by rising bond yields and oil prices that heightened concerns over inflation and interest rate hikes. In regular trading on Tuesday, the Dow fell 0.79%, the S&P 500 declined 0.71% and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 1.03%, with all three benchmarks extending their losing streak to a third session. Seven of the 11 S&P sectors finished lower, led by declines in consumer discretionary, industrials and materials. The moves came as the global bond selloff intensified, pushing the US 10-year Treasury yield to its highest level since early 2025. Oil prices also surged amid escalating hostilities between the US and Iran, raising the risk of further disruptions to energy flows from the Middle East. Investors now await ADP private payrolls data and the Fed’s Beige Book, along with earnings reports from Broadcom, Hewlett Packard and Snowflake, among others.
