US Natural Gas Stocks Rise Less Than Expected

US energy firms added 41 billion cubic feet of natural gas to storage to a total of 3,024 bcf on the week ended July 10th, in line with expectations of a 43 bcf injection, according to the latest data by the US EIA. It was the lowest increase since the first week of June, when the building season for natural gas storage peaked at 108 bcf. The current level reflected a 0.7% decline from the corresponding week of the previous year, as higher levels of LNG exports offset record high domestic production. Still, it was 6.4% above the current five-year average.
