US Natural Gas Storage Rises as Expected

US energy firms added 41 billion cubic feet of natural gas to storage to a total of 3,024 bcf on the week ended July 10th, in line with expectations of a 43 bcf injection, according to the latest data by the US EIA.

It was the lowest increase since the first week of June, when the building season for natural gas storage peaked at 108 bcf.

The current level reflected a 0.7% decline from the corresponding week of the previous year, as higher levels of LNG exports offset record high domestic production.

Still, it was 6.4% above the current five-year average.

US Natural Gas Stocks Rise More Than Expected
US energy firms added 61 billion cubic feet of natural gas to storage in the week ended July 3, exceeding market expectations for a 49 bcf injection, according to EIA data. The build also topped the 53 bcf increase recorded in the same week last year and the five-year average of 51 bcf. Total working gas in storage rose to 2.983 trillion cubic feet, standing about 0.5% below the level seen a year earlier but 6.6% above the five-year average for this time of year. The latest increase followed an 87 bcf injection in the previous week ended June 26.

US Natural Gas Stocks Rise Less than Expected
US energy firms added 73 billion cubic feet of natural gas into storage in the week ended June 12, slightly below market expectations for a 75 bcf build. It compares with an injection of 97 bcf during the same week a year ago and an average increase for that week of 73 bcf over the past five years (2021-2025). Stockpiles increased to 2.759 trillion cubic feet, 1% below the same week a year ago and about 5.8% above the five-year average for the week. In the week ended June 5, energy firms added 108 bcf of gas into storage.
