US Natural Gas Stocks Rise Less than Expected

US energy firms added 73 billion cubic feet of natural gas into storage in the week ended June 12, slightly below market expectations for a 75 bcf build.

It compares with an injection of 97 bcf during the same week a year ago and an average increase for that week of 73 bcf over the past five years (2021-2025).

Stockpiles increased to 2.759 trillion cubic feet, 1% below the same week a year ago and about 5.8% above the five-year average for the week.

In the week ended June 5, energy firms added 108 bcf of gas into storage.

US Natural Gas Stocks Rise Less Than Expected
US energy firms injected 95 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of natural gas into storage to 2.578 Bcf on the week that ended May 29th, following a 92 Bcf rise in the previous period and below market expectations of a 101 Bcf build. Stocks were 3 Bcf less than last year at this time and 138 Bcf above the five-year average of 2,440 Bcf.

US Natural Gas Stocks Extend Build
US energy firms injected 101 billion cubic feet of natural gas into storage to 2.29 trillion cubic feet on the week that ended May 15th, slightly above market expectations of a 95 bcf build. The elevated sharp build took place despite strong demand for US liquified natural gas from consumers in Europe and Asia, as the US and Iran conflict blockaded LNG tankers from leaving the Persian Gulf with cargoes. Stocks were 1.4% above comparable periods of the previous year, and 6.6% above the current five-year average.
