MGE Energy, Inc. is a public utility holding company. The Company's segments include Regulated electric utility operations; Regulated gas utility operations; Nonregulated energy operations, and Transmission investments. Regulated gas utility operations segment is engaged in generating, purchasing and distributing electricity through Madison Gas and Electric Company (MGE). MGE distributes electricity in a service area covering a 264 square-mile area in Dane County, Wisconsin. The Regulated gas utility operations segment is engaged in purchasing and distributing natural gas through MGE. MGE transports and distributes natural gas in a service area covering 1,684 square miles in seven south-central Wisconsin counties. The Nonregulated energy operations segment is engaged in owning and leasing electric generating capacity that assists MGE through MGE Energy's subsidiaries, MGE Power Elm Road and MGE Power West Campus.
