US Futures Hold Near Records

2026-09-22 11:24 By Andre Joaquim 1 min. read

US equity futures were muted on Tuesday, holding gains from the previous session amid softer borrowing costs for the corporate sector and new optimism on returns on AI agents.

Contracts for the S&P 500, Dow, and Nasdaq 100 were flat, with the former two hovering less than 0.5% from their record highs.

Stocks were broadly higher premarket as oil and fuel prices softened for a fifth session following signs that Iran, the GCC, and the US could chase diplomacy to restore some oil trade in the Persian Gulf, trimming the surge in bond yields this month.

AI hyperscalers, which have issued record levels of corporate debt despite high borrowing costs, were higher with Microsoft, Oracle, and Alphabet adding 1%.

Banks and industrials also gained.

In turn, chip producers inched down but still held most of their surge yesterday, buoyed by positive responses from Meta's Muse AI agent.

AMD, Micron, and Intel inched down 1%.

US Futures Steady After Tech-Led Rally
US stock futures were little changed on Tuesday after the major averages rallied at the start of the week, led by technology and artificial intelligence stocks. Falling oil prices and lower Treasury yields also supported market sentiment, easing concerns over persistent inflationary pressures. Meanwhile, officials expressed optimism about an upcoming summit between Presidents Donald Trump and Xi Jinping this week. In regular trading on Monday, the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite surged 2.26% to a record close, while the S&P 500 and Dow advanced 1.49% and 0.71%, respectively. Among individual stocks, Meta jumped 11.3% on optimism surrounding its AI offering, Muse. The gains also lifted semiconductor stocks, with AMD and Intel soaring 10% and 12.1%, respectively. Investors now await fresh earnings reports from AutoZone and KB Home on Tuesday, along with speeches from Federal Reserve officials.
