2026-09-11 11:57 By Andre Joaquim 1 min. read

US equity futures were higher on Friday, rebounding from four sessions of losses as oil prices paused their surge ahead of the key consumer inflation release.

Contracts for the S&P 500, Dow, and Nasdaq 100 were around 0.5% higher.

Long-dated Treasury yields eased from their multi-year highs as fuel prices halted their surge following repeated escalation to strikes between Iran and the US in the Persian Gulf.

Higher energy prices since the start of the month were due to worsen an already high inflationary outlook, with headline inflation expected to hold at 3.4%.

Multiple FOMC member stated that high inflation could warrant a hike in the Fed's decision on Wednesday, pressuring credit-sensitive sectors this week before their respite this session.

Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta, and Alphabet inched higher, but were on course for heavy declines in the week.

Meanwhile, Oracle surged 5.5% premarket as it reported a surge in cloud infrastructure revenue.

US Futures Stabilize Ahead of CPI Report
US stock futures steadied on Friday after the major averages declined in the previous session, as investors awaited the August consumer price index report. A hotter-than-expected consumer inflation reading could cement expectations that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates next week, following Thursday’s data showing producer inflation accelerated last month as the Iran war drove up wholesale energy prices. In regular trading on Thursday, the Dow fell 0.61%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite declined 0.59% and 0.65%, respectively. All three benchmarks extended their losing streaks to four sessions. Stocks came under pressure from surging oil prices and Treasury yields as inflation concerns intensified. In corporate news, Oracle gained more than 4% in extended trading after reporting better-than-expected quarterly results, while Adobe fell over 2% on weak guidance for the current quarter.
