US stock futures held steady on Thursday as investors awaited key inflation figures that could shape the Federal Reserve’s next policy decision.
The August producer price index is due Thursday, followed by the consumer inflation report on Friday.
Other major economic data scheduled for release today include weekly jobless claims and existing home sales.
On the corporate side, earnings are expected from Oracle, Adobe, Copart, Macy’s and Restoration Hardware.
In regular trading Wednesday, the Dow fell 0.77%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite declined 0.48% and 0.64%, respectively.
The losses came as oil prices continued to climb amid an intensifying conflict between the US and Iran, raising concerns over inflation and strengthening expectations for near-term rate hikes.
Treasury yields also moved higher after the Treasury Department announced plans to buy back up to $6 billion in longer-term debt, disappointing some investors who had been expecting a more substantial increase.
