US stocks were lower on Wednesday as higher yields dented the outlook on corporate margins and consumer demand.
The S&P 500 and the Dow fell around 0.5%, while fresh weakness for the tech sector pressured the Nasdaq 100 to a near 1% loss.
Oil and fuel prices rose further as strikes between the US and Iran escalated, denting the likelihood of a resumption in Middle Eastern oil exports in the near future, and adding to inflationary concerns ahead of the Federal Reserve's meeting next week.
Risks that higher borrowing costs would hamper equity markets seemingly rose after the resilience since the start of the war, in part due to higher rates on soaring debt by AI hyperscalers for datacenter development.
Alphabet fell 3% after announcing a $15.1 billion buildout in Finland, while Amazon dropped 2% on another financing round in sterling.
On the other hand, Meta jumped 4.5% after announcing a new AI agent.
