US stock futures slipped on Wednesday as investors awaited the latest US PCE price index report, the Federal Reserve’s preferred measure of inflation.

Nvidia’s quarterly results, due after the closing bell, will also be closely watched for signs of continued strength in artificial intelligence-driven demand.

Meanwhile, Fed Chair Kevin Warsh is scheduled to speak at the annual Jackson Hole symposium on Friday, although he is not expected to provide clear guidance on the central bank’s policy decision in September.

In regular trading on Tuesday, the Dow gained 0.3%, the S&P 500 rose 0.32%, and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 0.66%.

Technology stocks led the gains, with companies tied to AI infrastructure outperforming.

The advance came as long-term Treasury yields retreated from recent highs, while softer oil prices helped ease concerns over inflation.

US Stocks Rise as Tech Rebounds
US stock indices closed higher on Tuesday, led by a rebound in technology stocks as lower oil prices pushed bond yields down. The S&P 500 rose 0.3%, the Nasdaq gained 0.6%, and the Dow added 160 points. Companies exposed to AI infrastructure recovered from losses in the previous session amid uncertainty surrounding the sector. Expectations of potentially massive IPOs by hyperscalers investing heavily in AI infrastructure, including Anthropic and OpenAI, supported chipmakers and cloud companies. Nvidia gained 2.2% ahead of its earnings report on Wednesday, while Microsoft rose 0.9%, Meta advanced 2%, Micron added 2.5%, and AMD jumped 4.9%. Broader sectors also advanced as long-term Treasury yields pulled back from recent highs. Lower oil prices, despite the latest US sanctions threat against Iran, offered some relief to credit-sensitive sectors that had been pressured by energy-driven inflation concerns. Morgan Stanley rose 1.3%, while Goldman Sachs gained 2.2%.
