US Futures Rebound on Monday

2026-07-27 11:44 By Andre Joaquim 1 min. read

US futures rose on Monday, erasing the losses from last week as drop in energy prices softened worries of a deteriorating macroeconomic backdrop.

Contracts for the S&P 500 and the Dow were around 1% higher, while those for the Nasdaq 100 gained nearly 1.5%.

The US paused its strikes against Iran over the weekend and benchmark fuel prices eased on hopes that energy exports from the Middle East could return.

The consequent drop in yields loosened financial conditions and nearly erased expectations that the Federal Reserve could deliver a rate hike this week, pushing back eventual tightening to September.

Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, and Apple were up premarket ahead of their earnings in the coming days.

Nvidia underperformed with a 0.5% gain after a $500 billion AI memory chip supply deal from SK Hynix and guaranteeing $250 billion for OpenAI to lease computing from a data center project, reigniting concerns that circular deals in AI computing could trigger contagion should spending ease.

US Futures Advance as Oil Prices Retreat
US stock futures moved higher on Monday as oil prices fell sharply after the US refrained from attacking Iran over the weekend, while Tehran also suspended its retaliatory strikes. The pause followed nearly two weeks of escalating conflict, although Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen claimed attacks on Saudi Arabian facilities along the Red Sea, leaving markets cautious about the risk of further supply disruptions. Investors are also preparing for a busy week of corporate earnings and the Federal Reserve's upcoming policy meeting. Quarterly results are expected from megacap technology firms including Apple, Microsoft, and Meta Platforms, along with major companies such as Visa, Exxon Mobil, Starbucks, Ford, and PayPal. On the policy front, the Fed is widely expected to keep interest rates unchanged on Wednesday before raising them in September, although some market participants believe the central bank could act as soon as this week's meeting.
