US Crude Oil Stocks Unexpectedly Fall: EIA

US crude stocks fell by 2.296 million barrels in the week ended January 23, 2026, compared with market expectations for a 1.75 million-barrel build.
Crude stocks at the Cushing, Oklahoma, delivery hub decreased by 278 thousand barrels in the week.
On the other hand, gasoline stocks rose by 224 thousand barrels, below forecasts for a 1.3 million-barrel build.
Distillate stockpiles, which include diesel and heating oil, increased 329 thousand barrels, versus expectations for a 0.55 million-barrel drop.
