US Crude Oil Inventories Rise More than Expected: EIA

US crude stocks rose by 3.602 million barrels in the week ended January 16, 2026, compared with market expectations for a 1.1 million-barrel build.
Crude stocks at the Cushing, Oklahoma, delivery hub rose by 1.478 million barrels in the week, the most since August 2025.
Also, gasoline stocks rose by 5.977 million barrels, well above forecasts for a 1.7 million-barrel build.
Distillate stockpiles, which include diesel and heating oil, were increased 3.348 million barrels, versus expectations for a 0.2 million-barrel drop.
