US Wage Growth Slightly Below Forecasts

Average hourly earnings for all employees on US private nonfarm payrolls rose by 6 cents, or 0.2%, over a month to $37.41 in April 2026, the same pace as in the prior month and slightly below estimates of a 0.3% increase.
In April, average hourly earnings of private-sector production and nonsupervisory employees rose by 11 cents, or 0.3%, to $32.23.
Over the year, average hourly earnings have increased by 3.6%, up from a downwardly revised 3.4% rise in March but below the expected 3.8% advance.
