Australia Trade Deficit Narrows in February


In seasonally adjusted terms, the balance on goods and services was a deficit of A$ 178M in February 2013, a fall of A$ 1,037M (85 percent) on the deficit in January 2013.

In seasonally adjusted terms, goods and services credits rose A$ 811M (3 percent) to A$ 25,642M. Non–rural goods rose A$ 714M (4 percent) and rural goods rose A$ 202M (7 percent). Net exports of goods under merchanting remained steady at A$ 20M. Non–monetary gold fell A$ 143M (10 percent). Services credits rose A$ 38M (1 percent).

In seasonally adjusted terms, goods and services debits fell A$ 226M (1 percent) to A$ 25,820M. Capital goods fell A$ 253M (4 percent) and non–monetary gold fell A$ 32M (9 percent). Intermediate and other merchandise goods rose A$ 41M and consumption goods rose A$ 3M. Services debits rose A$ 15M.
