US stocks fell on Tuesday on growing concerns that tight financial conditions will hamper economic growth.

The S&P 500 and the Dow fell up to 0.7%, while the Nasdaq 100 fell nearly 2%.

Strikes between the US and Iran in the Persian Gulf prolonged the suspension of energy exports from the region and added to pro-inflationary risks on the global economy, consolidating the likelihood that major central banks are due to restart their hiking cycles this year.

On top of that, soaring AI corporate debt issuance added to credit supply and lifted yields further.

Tech stocks led the losses on tightened credit conditions, with Marvell, Intel, Oracle, and Tesla dropping around 3%.

Meanwhile, Nvidia dropped 2% despite te $35 billion computing deal between Lambda, where the chip giant has a large stake, and Anthropic.

Meanwhile, asset managers fell further with Blackstone and KKR dropping 4% each.
