US stocks were slightly higher on Friday, pausing the losses from the week as markets continue to gauge macroeconomic risks from higher energy prices and bond yields.
The S&P 500 and Dow rose around 0.4%, while the Nasdaq inched above the flatline.
Long-dated Treasury yields were at similar levels to before the Treasury announced its higher bond buyback, although the dollar held its plunge, underscoring the market's concern over high inflation and uncontrolled deficit spending in a period that already has record corporate debt issuance.
Chip producers and AI hyperscalers were mixed, holding their sharp losses from the week.
Intel, AMD, and Seagate were set to close the week around 10% down, while Meta and Broadcom were set to lose 7%.
Meanwhile, Walmart was 10% down on the week amid a rare earnings miss released yesterday, denting the company's outlook and sending a pessimistic signal on the US consumer.
