Futures tracking US indices were muted on Friday, tracking smaller movements in energy and bond markets ahead of the release of the July jobs report.
The S&P 500, Dow, and Nasdaq 100 were slightly higher.
The data is expected to show an increase of 80,000 non-farm payrolls and a stable unemployment rate, reflecting a strong labor market and backing expectations that the Federal Reserve may raise interest rates next meeting.
Despite the importance of jobs data, energy prices have recently had a greater impact on expectations on the policy outlook as concerns of higher inflation drove a wave of hawkish signals by FOMC members.
SpaceX held yesterday's rebound even as $101 billion in its shares were unlocked from their post-IPO holds.
Meanwhile, Sandisk and Western Digital were sharply higher premarket following their earnings-spurred selloff yesterday, maintaining volatility in the chip-producing space.
Also, Berkshire Hathaway shares were flat ahead of their earnings tomorrow.
