US equity futures fell to their lowest in nearly seven months on Friday as war in the Middle East and trade disputes heightened stagflationary risks to the economy.

Contracts for the S&P 500, Dow, and Nasdaq 100 were up to 0.3% lower.

President Trump extended the halt to US attacks on Iranian energy infrastructure, but repeated strikes in the region dented tanker flows through the Strait of Hormuz.

The surge in energy prices this month had already dimmed expectations of a Fed rate cut this year and stagflation concerns were magnified after China opened a trade probe against the US in retaliation to tariffs by Washington.

Tech giants were firmly lower as the pullback in risk positioning dented confidence in speculative AI positions.

Nvidia and other chip producers dropped pre-market as new research from Alphabet promoted AI models with less compute.

Also, Meta dropped nearly 10% since Wednesday on layoffs and a court decision that labeled its social media as addictive.
