US Stocks Extend Record Run to 4th Session

US stocks extended gains on Wednesday, with the S&P 500 up 0.3%, the Nasdaq advancing 0.7%, and the Dow Jones rising 170 points, marking a fourth straight session of record highs.

Nvidia shares rose almost 5% to become the first company reaching a market cap of $5 trillion, after US President Trump said he would discuss the company’s Blackwell processors with China’s Xi Jinping, putting the AI leader on track to become the first public company valued at $5 trillion.

AMD (2.4%) and Micron Technology (2.3%) were also higher.

Meanwhile, traders assess a new wave of corporate results, with Microsoft (-0.1%), Meta (+0.1%), and Alphabet (+0.6%), all due to report after the closing bell.

Verizon gained 3.7% after reaffirming its full-year outlook, while Caterpillar jumped 9.8% following stronger Q3 sales.

In contrast, Boeing tumbled 4% after an earnings miss.

On the monetary policy front, the Fed is widely expected to cut interest rates by another 25bps later today.

Investors moved quickly to reduce risk, leading to Blackrock (-7.2%) capping withdrawals for the first time from one of its private credit funds, as concerns regarding private credit exposure and broader economic stagnation took hold.
