US Crude Oil Inventories Post Surprise Draw

United States crude oil inventories fell by 4.40 million barrels in the week ended April 17th 2026, well above the 1.0 million barrel draw expected by markets and reversing a 6.10 million barrel increase in the previous week, according to the American Petroleum Institute.
Gasoline inventories fell by 5.165 million barrels, the biggest draw since the last week of October.
Distillate stockpiles which include diesel and heating oil decreased by 4.59 million barrels and Cushing inventory rose by 0.678 million barrels.
