The unemployment rate for men was higher than for women, 5.17 percent and 4.83 percent respectively.
In seasonally adjusted terms, in April, the unemployment rate rose to 5.14 percent from 5.03 percent in March.
Urban unemployment, based on the country’s 32 largest cities, increased to 6.42 percent from 5.87 percent in April of 2012 and was also up from March in seasonally adjusted terms.
