Mexico Unemployment Rate Down To 4.51% In March


Mexico unemployment rate drops for the second consecutive month in March.

Mexico recorded an unemployment rate of 4.51 percent in the third month of 2013, below the 4.7 percent forecasted and down from the 4.85 percent registered in the previous month.

The unemployment rate for women was higher than for men, 4.60 percent and 4.46 percent respectively. 
 
In March, the share of underemployed persons in the total labor force declined to 7.79 percent from 8.32 percent registered in the same month a year earlier. In the same period, the participation rate was 57.83 percent, lower than the 58.76 percent recorded in March of 2012.
 
In seasonally adjusted terms, in March, the unemployment rate rose to 5.01 percent from 4.74 percent in February.
 
Urban unemployment, based on the country´s 32 largest cities, declined to 5.24 percent from 5.39 percent in March of 2012 and was also down from February in seasonally adjusted terms.
