US Stocks Retreat Further

US equities fell further from records on Monday as escalation to the conflict with Iran risked higher energy prices for longer.
The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq 100 dropped 0.5% from their peaks, while the Dow lost 400 points.
The UAE was under missile threat for the first time since the US imposed a ceasefire, while both the US and Iran denied each other's claims of attacks on the US navy and US commercial vessels making it out of the Persian Gulf.
Inflation concerns deepened as energy prices rose further, adding to the likelihood of a restrictive Federal Reserve following the multiple hawkish dissents last week.
AI infrastructure companies, which are more sensitive to swings in risk sentiment due to the speculative bets on AI, were firmly lower with Nvidia, Broadcom, AMD, Qualcomm, and Intel sliding between 1.5% and 6%.
In turn, Berkshire Hathaway dropped despite higher revenues in its first quarter without Warren Buffet.
Palantir gained 1% ahead of its earnings after the bell.
