US stock futures edged about 0.1% higher on Thursday, following record closes for both the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq in the previous session.

Investors remained focused on corporate earnings while growing increasingly optimistic that an agreement between the US and Iran could bring an end to the conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz soon.

In premarket trading, PepsiCo rose 0.8% after reporting earnings and revenue above expectations and Bank of New York Mellon also gained 0.3% after delivering results that beat forecasts.

On the other hand, Charles Schwab tumbled 2% as its results failed to impress and Abbott Laboratories was down almost 4% after a soft guide.

Netflix was little changed ahead of its earnings release later in the day.

Among megacap stocks, performance was mixed.

Nvidia (-0.3%), Alphabet (-0.2%), Amazon (-0.1%), and Broadcom (-0.9%) traded lower, while Apple (+0.6%), Microsoft (+1.3%), Meta (+0.6%), and Tesla (+0.9%) posted gains ahead of the opening bell.
