US Stocks Lower, Microsoft Tumbles

US stocks moved lower on Thursday after a lacklustre opening, with the S&P 500 down 0.7%, the Nasdaq tumbling 1.6% and the Dow Jones falling about 80 points.
Losses were led by a sharp sell-off in the technology sector amid renewed concerns over AI-related valuations, as investors digested a fresh round of corporate earnings.
Microsoft plunged more than 10% after the company reported slowing cloud growth despite record-high spending.
Tesla fell 1.2% after posting a 3% decline in annual revenue, the first such drop in its history.
Oracle slid 3.1% after announcing the launch of an AI-powered platform for life sciences research.
On the upside, Meta surged nearly 9% after its sales outlook beat expectations.
IBM jumped 7.4% and Caterpillar rose 4.1% after both companies delivered results that exceeded estimates.
Honeywell also edged higher, gaining 3.7%, despite reporting mixed results.
Apple added 0.3% ahead of its quarterly earnings release later today after the closing bell.
